The decision to cancel the fourth stage of the Dubai Tour in Hatta was taken after blustery conditions made racing impossible for the riders on Friday.

The cancellation decision was welcomed by top riders. On Thursday night, the route for the fourth stage was changed. This came on the heels of a vicious sandstorm which the riders had to deal with in the third stage.

The cancelled part of the fourth stage was supposed to start from the Hatta Club stadium and end with a steep climb to the splendid Hatta Dam.

Unfortunately, the winds kept blowing non-stop at a very terrifying speed. In lieu of this, the UCL’s extreme weather protocol was applied by the Race Management and Commissaries Panel which led to the cancelation of the stage.

This important decision was taken by the organizers, who were more concerned of the safety of the riders as a whole year of racing still remains ahead of them. Continue reading “4TH STAGE OF DUBAI TOUR CANCELLED, RIDERS WELCOME DECISION”

Trek Factory has declared to replace injured Fabian Cancellara with Stijn Devolder for the upcoming Flanders Tour. Cancellara has badly broken his vertebrae in a tragic crash as the recently concluded E3 Harelbeke that ruled him out from Spring Classics.

Devolder, who had earlier stated about possibilities to triumph at Flanders Tour, is to face new set of responsibilities given his dramatic shift of role of late.

“Certainly, we should strive to come up with something great. Cancellara was surely the prime favorite & it’s always fantastic to have such a great cyclist in the team”, stated the Belgian rider which approached on Tour of Flanders.

“Now he isn’t here but there isn’t any reason to worry. We would stay focused & would attempt to come up with something good with our existing team.”

The Belgian’s twin Ronde wins came during QuickStep days & he owes much of his strength to Tom Boonen in particular. The contrast in between his 2-year unhappy sojourn as Vacansoleil captain & his following reanimation on signing as Cancellara’s deluxe domestique 2 years back suggests- that the Belgian more compatible in supporting role. But as Gert Steegmans has been ticked off on injury issues as well, the current trek leadership goes to Devolder only for Flanders Tour.

Cavendish Might Miss Out On Chances For Upcoming Olympic

Mark Cavendish might miss out on chances for upcoming Olympic which is scheduled for 2016. At least this is what Shane Sutton feels like.

“We would’ve opened our door to Mark as he is a gifted rider with the uncanny ability to do just anything technically. He is the greatest of road sprinters ever but unfortunately, to me it’s an end for Cav”, noted Sutton, the technical director for British Cycling.

Last autumn saw Cavendish hopeful to participate in Rio Ominum in 2016 but last month he shocked everybody with his fear of falling foul of UCI qualification system. The system which demands ninety ranking points from the sprinter before 1st September 2015, is a tough deal for Cavendish.

“It quite a shame”, the BC technical director looked worried. “The road will end when he won’t be able to qualify numerically, till then it is open. However, if he is unable to come up with the mandatory points, he cannot qualify. I am one among his greatest admirers, as everyone knows & at this very moment, Cav must look to safeguard the road contract.” Continue reading “Cavendish Might Miss Out On Chances For Upcoming Olympic”
