RIDEUPTOTHECHALLENGE.org
was created to bring together like-minded individuals for the purpose of gathering and sharing information about equine assisted therapy and activities for injured veterans. Although the internet is an incredible resource, it has been described as a library with all the books on the floor. Searching the internet for specific information can be slow work. Inspired by websites where material on other topics has been gathered as a special interest resource, rideuptothechallenge.org is intended to provide a similar service for programs involving equine therapy and activities for injured veterans We hope you find this website useful. If you do, please tell others.
Goals:
1.
To provide information for wounded warriors and veterans, their families and families of fallen heroes who may want to consider using equine assisted therapy and activities to improve their quality of life.
2.
To provide easy access to current news and information which may facilitate delivery and development of equine assisted activities for injured veterans, their families and families of military killed in action.
Anyone able to offer relevant information is encouraged to add material to rideuptothechallenge.org in order to build this body of knowledge.
Disclaimer: Much of the information posted at www.rideuptothechallenge.org is gathered from a variety of publicly available resources via online search engines. Rideuptothechallenge.org is not an organization and accepts no liability in any way for information presented on this website.

Col. Paul Brown, a physician at Fitzsimons Army Hospital near Denver…… concluded that equine therapy was the single most important factor in restoring confidence among soldiers who lost limbs from combat wounds.
The healing power of horses is…..helping amputees learn to walk again, showing traumatic brain injury victims how to remember, relieving sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder from their demons, and teaching blind veterans to live independently.

A Warm Welcome and Special Thanks to all the men and women who now face physical and mental challenges as a result of military service to our country.
Sincerest Sympathy to all those who have lost a loved one in the US Armed Forces. This website is for you!
God bless you all! My heart goes out to you...My fiance was killed in a helicopter crash while serving in the USMC many years ago. Living with that experience has ultimately led me to create this website Along with everyone involved in the efforts mentioned on these pages, my wishes are for your health, strength, joy and peace. Given time and the right environment, sometimes astonishingly, the body can heal and a new day begins. I am learning this can sometimes happen more quickly with the help of equine professionals, many willing volunteers, and a sturdy, well-trained horse . There are big hearted, hard-working folks and loving horses waiting to be at your service!
If you are willing, new adventures may await you!
Video clips below give a convenient glimpse of programs across the USA.
The National Directory on the Resources page lists Stables offering horseback riding sessions and activities at little or no cost especially for you. If you find a Center near you and wish to learn more, you can use the contact information listed. Or ask your Transition Assistance Advisor, Physical Therapist, VA or Doctor to ask if hippotherapy or therapeutic riding might be right for you. Don't forget to tell them about this website. Check back for new additions. Many Centers across the USA are eager and waiting for Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans ( & their families) to participate so they can get the wheels rolling and start new programs.
Newspaper articles, photos and videos are linked to the Newsroom page. I am searching for video coverage showing how horses are already helping children move past the sadness, anger, and hurt of losing a mom or dad. Children bond with the horse and learn new ways of coping. It's amazing!
Best wishes, marge
